Denver, Colo. – December 9, 2015 – Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) and Vail Resorts, Inc. today announced the findings of a comprehensive economic impact study of Colorado’s skiing and snowboarding industry, the first of its kind in nearly two decades. As the leading ski state in North America, Colorado’s ski industry generates a $4.8 billion annual economic impact, comprising a significant portion of the state’s tourism and recreation sectors and supporting a sizeable share of the employment and tax base in Colorado’s mountainous regions.
Denver, Colo. – December 4, 2015 – January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month across America and Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) member ski areas and resorts are offering special promotions and programs to make it easy for people to learn Colorado’s signature winter sports. Guests visiting CSCUSA member resorts in January will find package deals on rentals, lift tickets, and professional instruction, and in many cases resorts will reward successful first-time learners with a complimentary season pass after completion of a multi-day lesson program.
Denver, Colo. – December 1, 2015 – Gerald F. (Jerry) Groswold, a Denver native of Norwegian ancestry and son of Colorado's first manufacturer of Alpine skis, died on November 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Karen and is survived by his brother, Thor Groswold, Jr., his daughters Kathy and Karol, and seven grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

Denver, Colo. – October 29, 2015 – Colorado’s 2015/16 ski season is underway today as crowds of enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders celebrated at the Loveland and Arapahoe Basin ski areas. At 9:00 a.m. Loveland’s Chair 1 began delivering riders 1,000 vertical feet to the top of the Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run trails for their first lift-served turns of the season on a mile-long descent on 18 inches of packed powder. Simultaneously at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, the Black Mountain Express high-speed quad chairlift began delivering eager snow riders to the top of the intermediate High Noon run to inaugurate their 2015-16 ski season.

Denver, Colo. – August 25, 2015 – Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA), the trade association and global voice of skiing and snowboarding in Colorado, announced today that registration for its popular 5th and 6th Grade Passport Programs is now open for the 2015/16 ski season. The Passport Programs introduce fifth and sixth grade kids to skiing and snowboarding by giving fifth graders free access, and sixth graders discounted access, to twenty of Colorado’s ski resorts. Often imitated, CSCUSA’s Passport Program is the original and unmatched opportunity for kids to become avid skiers and snowboarders.
Boulder, Colo. – June 12, 2015 – Yesterday evening at the 52nd Annual Meeting of Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA), Colorado’s ski resorts capped a record-setting 2014/15 season with the Double Diamond Awards, where individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry were recognized for their excellence in competition, patrol, instruction, operations, and ski area management.
